I can't believe that I haven't written anything all weekend. We weren't particularly busy this weekend either. Hmmm.
Anyway, we did take the kids to see Veggie Tales on Saturday. It was a fun movie. Ben was a little freaked out by the cheese curls, but really, they were a little strange. The overall message was great.
We also put some chores in place this weekend. Each of the kids have 3 chores that they are responsible for throughout the week. These are above and beyond the normal bed making and teeth brushing. They don't get an allowance for those. They all got to pick, with a little help, three things that they would like to do around here. Ethan (10) wanted laundry, but I said no to that one! He ended up with the laundry room floor, trash and the bathroom sink. Sarah(7) wanted to sweep the kitchen floor, clean the windows and feed the dog. Sally was particularly happy about that one! Ben, bless his little 5 year old heart, wanted the toilet, the bathroom mirror and picking up the toys before bed. I figured I better take him up on the toilet cleaning while he wanted to do it!
Do I realize that I will still have to do some of these things during the week? Yes. The point of this is to teach them how to pitch in and help, willingly. It will also teach them about tithing and saving money. It's exciting to see them growing up and wanting to help me out. They are good kids.
Yesterday was a sad day for Indiana, as the Colts are out of the Playoffs. :(
I am doing a Bible study right now called "Cultivating a Life of Character" by Elizabeth George. I just started it, but I can tell it's going to be a great help to me. It covers the books of Judges and Ruth.
I am also reading through Beth Moore's "Praying God's Word" and today the verses that stuck out to me were:
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psalms 62:6-7 (KJV)
When I looked these up, I also noticed this one:
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your hearts before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Psalms 62:8 (KJV)
I am so thankful the He is my refuge and strength.
