Say it isn't so..

Summer is coming to a close for us here. School will be starting in exactly one week and I don't like it. Our summer has been full of fun with friends and family. We've swam, played ball, walked more miles than I can count, played games, climbed trees and well, I think you get the point!

I have been so behind on reading blogs and I haven't commented on too many at all.

I have been so blessed over the last few months and I have so many things to look forward to in the coming days. I will be flying to San Antonio in less than three weeks for the much anticipated Siesta Fiesta! I cannot wait to meet those of you that are going to be there! We are going to have a ball getting to know one another. I wish that ALL of my bloggy friends could be there.
All of you B-town girls: I'm going to make my way over there one of these days to hug all of you! You all are a BUSY group of girls! I wish it could have been this year, but it just wasn't to be...yet.

In September, I get to go to a Ladies Retreat with a group from my church and Tasha!! Yes!! I am so excited about that! My BFF gets to go with me!!

After all of that, I will be hanging out here watching my girl, Cassidy, and a new baby that I am going to start watching next week. Cassidy's mommy finally got a full-time job with the schools after the doctor that she worked for moved away last October. This was an answer to prayer for her and for me. If she's not getting paid, I'm not getting paid! The kids are also going to be taking piano from our youth pastor's wife and I am going to be watching their two young'uns on Tuesdays so that she can give all of her lessons. It's an awesome trade if you ask me!

Ethan will be attending the school at our church this year. We were not comfortable with sending him to our middle school here. He will have four other 6th graders in his class. We were not the only ones with concerns about our middle schools. Sarah and Ben will continue at the elementary school that is in our district. It is pretty good and the principal is a Christian. They both have very good teachers this year.

Eric and I have decided to step up and help out our youth pastor with the junior kids this year. (1st-6th grade) We were already kind of doing that, but we decided that we needed to be more pro-active in this area. We want to be able to lighten his load a little. He's a busy guy.

The kids took swimming lessons a couple of weeks ago and I just happen to have a few pictures here! :)
Ben is learning how to float on his back

Sarah, too!
Ethan's class worked on learning a few new strokes.
As I said, we have been able to spend lots of time with friends. Here is a couple of pics from Tasha's 30th birthday. She finally joined me on the old side of the tracks!
Maggie and Ben are going to make a cute couple some day! heehee! They already fight like they're related!

We've been able to spend many days with friends from church that have kids around the same ages as ours. The mommies walk laps around the cul-de-sac and up the road while the kids play together. We manage to get in about three miles a day, most days. It's been a fun time of getting to know one another a little bit better.
These kids hardly knew one another at the beginning of the summer. By the end of the summer we were trading kids for overnights and play dates. We have been blessed with a great group of kids at our church.
Lastly, if your still with me, are a few cakes that I have done this summer.

Sorry for the long post. It's obviously been awhile since I've posted much! Have a great day!

I'm glad your post was long! You have such a full, beautiful life. I can't wait to see/hear all about the Siesta thing.--Bless you guys for helping that pastor--is he really in charge of all kids? Up to 12th grade? Wow. Thanks for your comment on my Believing God post today. I hate to be so dumb, but who is the cousin who's singing? I only know this song throug worship at church.
